InkSpire includes preferences that control what happens when the application starts. These settings help you return to your work quickly or begin with a clean workspace.
Loading the Last Project
InkSpire can automatically reopen the last project you were working on when the application starts.
When this option is enabled:
- The most recently opened project is loaded at startup
- The editor opens ready to continue writing
- You do not need to manually reselect the project
This is useful if you typically work on one project at a time.
Starting Without a Project Loaded
If loading the last project is disabled:
- InkSpire opens without selecting a project
- The editor starts in an empty state
- You can choose or create a project manually
This is useful if you work on multiple projects or prefer a clean start.
Changing Startup Preferences
To change startup behavior:
- Open Appearance & Preferences
- Locate the Startup or General section
- Enable or disable the option to load the last open project
- Save your changes
Startup preferences take effect the next time InkSpire is launched.
What Startup Behavior Does Not Do
Startup behavior:
- Does not create new projects automatically
- Does not modify existing project content
- Does not affect exports or saved files
It only controls which project, if any, is loaded at launch.
If Startup Behavior Does Not Work as Expected
If InkSpire does not reopen the last project:
- Confirm the setting is enabled
- Make sure the project existed when InkSpire was last closed
- Restart InkSpire to test the setting
If issues persist, see Troubleshooting.
